Are you tired of being told how to create healthier habits through strategies and frameworks that do not account for your real life conditions?
I was too! Especially when I worked and studied from home. Knowing what to do does not automatically translate into doing it.
That’s why now, I support people work with their thinking, attention, and decisions to find their own frameworks for change.
If you’re ready to find your own way towards a more sustainable lifestyle, I want to be your lighthouse.
Not ready but want to keep in touch?
Before starting this work, I spent around 15 years working as a fisheries consultant, assessing fisheries for ecological sustainability.
I came into that role somewhat by chance, after moving countries. Whith a marine biology research background, I stepped into a position within a consulting team because they needed me. I stayed because it was meaningful work, mostly from home, and it paid the bills. But over time, the way the work was structured became increasingly difficult to sustain.
There were periods of no work followed by tight deadlines, blurred boundaries, and a constant sense of pressure. There were cycles of dread, procrastination, all-nighters, and work done at the last minute. Although my work was highly appreciated, I could not understand why it was so difficult to get out of the self-sabotaging loops.
I had my own ongoing patterns around maintaining my health, energy, and focus, that didn’t match how I wanted to live or work, despite repeated efforts to change them.
At the same time, life outside of work was … lifeing.
Moving countries, navigating major loss and grief and periods of depression added another layer of complexity to everything I was trying to figure out.
This is what led me to start studying psychology (and business as joint degree), and later, public health, with a focus on lifestyle and behaviour change.
I also trained and became a certified health coach as part of that process.
What I was trying to understand was simple:
Over time, I realised that most answers available, both in productivity and in health and wellness, did not fully account for how change actually unfolds under real-life conditions.
When I began working in the health and coaching space, this became more apparent. Many approaches relied on defining problems, making assumptions about what the individual is doing wrong, and prescribing solutions.
And while these approaches can be effective in some contexts, and for some people, they didn’t reflect my experience, and they didn’t align with how I wanted to work.
So instead of keeping with what I learned as a health coach, I started developing a different approach to
MZ Health Coaching is my personal brand, the “office” if you want. On this website, you can find information about my 1:1 coaching services, while everything else is hosted in the “Labs”, on a different website. The Anti-Burnout Labs is a project I am currently developing.
(The) Anti-Burnout Labs is intended as a research-informed platform focused on burnout prevention and sustainable human functioning. The free and paid resources there are aimed in particular at people who work from home, usually in their own small business, when the boundaries between work and personal life dissolve.
Note: I am not taking coaching clients at the moment.
Want to keep in touch? Sign-up to my emails below.
I will keep you posted when the Anti-Burnout Labs launches or when I start taking coaching clients again.
You can unsubscribe at any time. If you stay, you will receive “Notes from the Labs” newsletter when it launches.
